Zarina Karapetyan · Field Study in Blue
$250
Description
Field Study in Blue considers the experience of encountering a blue butterfly within a field of green or flowers. The intensity of the blue can isolate the butterfly from its surroundings, drawing the eye directly to the wing and the concentrated color it holds.
The work is interested in the relationship between the physical delicacy of the wing and the visual intensity of its color. A surface that is incredibly thin can carry an extraordinary depth of saturation, creating a tension between fragility and visual weight. The butterfly wing becomes a study in how color can transform a delicate, almost weightless structure into something that feels visually substantial.
