Zarina Karapetyan · A Vessel for Worlds
$6,500
Description
A Vessel for Worlds is the most structurally dominant and contained work in the Soft Gravity collection, while also being its most imaginative. The piece depicts a drip emerging from an unknown place and falling into an orb, where a soft reflection of a butterfly appears within its surface. From the orb, the form begins to drip again, flowing into an arched window filled with atmospheric, cloud-like forms. A vessel for worlds can also be understood as a cocoon. For me, this became an opportunity to explore what holds the cocoon, what dimension it might exist within, and what that space might feel like. Rather than imagining the cocoon as a place of isolation, I envisioned it floating within the unknown, contained, yet simultaneously connected to multiple dimensions. The work exists in this space between enclosure and expansiveness, where one can be held within a single form while remaining connected to worlds beyond it.
